Kramatvam

Kramatvam is derived from two Sanskrit words – ‘Krama’ and ‘Tattvam’.  Krama(क्रम) in Sanskrit means in the right order/method and Tattvam or Tattva (तत्त्व) means principle. Put together, it defines the purpose of this program “To align your practice according to your principles to achieve  your objective.”

Kramatvam is a Mysore style yoga classes, where each student is thought at their own pace, the teacher makes sure to give attention to each student and follow the curriculum/practice, based on their level of practice.

The different categories of Kramatvam:

Beginners Program:

The beginner’s series helps coordinate breath with movement, bringing clarity and calmness to the mind. It gently releases joint and muscle tension, improving mobility, flexibility, and overall strength. This makes it especially supportive for individuals recovering from injury or illness, as well as those feeling tired or depleted. By building a balanced foundation in the body, it prepares students for the preparatory and foundation series.

Preparatory Program:

The preparatory series builds a strong base for the Foundation and Primary series and can be practiced alongside the Beginner’s series by students of any level. It includes practices like matsya krida (15–20 repetitions), which help prepare the body for poses such as Sirsasana. This series boosts immunity, increases energy, improves flexibility, frees overall movement, and relaxes the breath. It covers all five directions of movement—forward bending, back bending, twisting, balancing, and inversion. Once comfortable with this series, students can progress to the Foundation and Primary sequences.

Foundation Program:

This is a Hatha-based sequence that builds strength, stability, and awareness through breath. It begins with Surya Namaskara and continues with a balanced set of asanas that work in all five directions of movement. Practiced with proper breathing, it supports physical and mental well-being, boosts energy, improves circulation, and deepens connection to oneself. The foundation sequence is a steady, strengthening practice that enhances balance, flexibility, breath capacity and stress release, offering a holistic approach to cleansing and centring the body and mind.

Primary Program:

The primary series follows the Bharatha Yoga Vinyasa (A&B), followed by a few rounds of Suryanamaskara, standing asanas, sitting asanas and a few asanas performed while lying down. This practice helps to boost cardiovascular fitness. Following the right techniques and body alignment helps practitioners in the long run. During practice, it is recommended to focus on learning asanas, while ensuring deep effortless breathing and internal holding (bandhas). It is one among the many powerful practice which not only helps in the prevention of several health issues but also helps one recover from minor health problems.

Intermediate Program:

Once a person is comfortable with all the above mentioned series, they are ready to go further for challenging program which is the Intermediate series. An all-round program is designed to focus on balancing of Pranas and Mahabhutas. This program is helpful to purify the 72,000 Nadis in turn balancing the pranas namely Apana, Samana,  prana, Udana and Vyana.

It helps in developing inner presence and connects body, mind and breath more deeply.
