About IndeaYoga
Why IndeaYoga?
During Yogacharya Bharath Shetty’s teaching experience of more than 2 decades he tried to understand his students’ idea of practice, their expectation from yoga and the short cuts taken to meet the expectations. He observed that the focus for yoga was limited to the physical and external level. In pursuit of happiness, people went on holidays to exotic location, went shopping etc. only to realise it offered fleeting happiness - once it loses its appeal they are on to the next thing. Material things can be enjoyed with an understanding that none will ever provide lasting source of peace, happiness or contentment.
With this backdrop originated ‘tamaso ma jyotirgamaya’ the Shanthi Mantra from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad which says ‘Lead me from darkness to inner light’ and from this ‘IndeaYoga’ came into existence.
‘Indea’ is combination of two words -
In = refers to ‘inner’ in English
Dea = is ‘light’ in Sanskrit
When put together ‘Indea’ means ‘in
ner light’

‘Yoga’ personifies the journey of moving from external darkness to inner light. This inner light guides us during our arduous journey through life. The inner light brightens all aspects of life, driving away darkness (of ignorance) and usher in the light (of knowledge).
‘With Presence’ implies ‘Being awake’, ‘Being in the moment’, ‘Living mindfully’.
Being awake means being in the moment; we are not missing life as we walk through it. Being awake means we are conscious of what is going on inside us, as it happens.
Learning to live mindfully with a heart that is open to all life—its pain and pleasures, ups and downs—is how we come to know real peace, happiness, and contentment.
‘IndeaYoga, With Presence’ was founded with the philosophy to activate each practitioner’s inner light and enable him/her to lead life mindfully. To do this, Yogacharya designed series of practices to bring about coordination between body, breath and mind.

IndeaYoga's Courses
Teacher Training
Yogacharya Bharath Shetty exclusively designs the Ashtanga yoga and Hatha yoga teacher training programs at IndeaYoga. With more than 2 decades of teaching experience, he puts in his profound knowledge on yogic sciences in the training content and structure. These yoga programs focus on training teachers on a holistic level and we believe that learning is a continuous process. Therefore, apart from the actual training period, we also offer students the much-needed support before and after the yoga teacher training programs. One can attend the Mysore Style Classes at IndeaYoga for 1 to 3 months as a preparation for getting trained as a teacher. During this time, the student is exposed to our style of practice and hence, teaching others will flow naturally.
A student may also stay with us after they have completed their yoga teacher training course for deepening their practice. Selected students may also choose to stay with us for Karma Yoga. All Karma Yogis get an opportunity to practice in our classes and assist the teachers at IndeaYoga. They may also get opportunities for assisting or hosting Yogacharya Bharath Shetty at various events and workshops around the world.
IndeaYoga teachers may also affiliate to our school if they decide to teach and spread our style of yoga back in their place. We always help and support our teachers in terms of teaching methodologies, asana techniques and aspects of running a yoga shala successfully. Based on teaching experience, we also plan to award teachers with higher grades.

Mysore Style Classes
Four weeks of intense training, in IndeaYoga system, imparted by Yogacharya Bharath Shetty, for beginners, intermediate and advanced practitioners, in Ashtanga Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga. Mysore Style classes include personalized sequences based on every individual’s capabilities.

Hatha Yoga is the way to begin yoga practice as it teaches one to breathe with the help of Breathing Kriyas like Mukha Dhouthi, Agnisara and Kapalabathi. This develops the base to physically prepare the body by bringing balance to “ha” sun, “tha” moon or the left and right side or the Pingala and Ida.
IndeaYoga has designed series for all kinds of practitioners. If one is completely new to yoga or not too flexible or elderly, they can start with the Beginner’s Series. Advanced practitioner fallen out of practice for any reason, can also re-start with this series for a few days to pick up momentum. The practitioner can progress to Preparatory and Foundation series at their own pace. A personalized program is designed to support the progress of the practitioner while receiving personal attention and instruction from the teacher, as well as physical adjustments.
As one advances through the series of asanas i.e. forward bending, back bending, twisting, balancing and inversion the body gets grounded, the breath slows down and one experiences deep inner silence and good health.
For those who suffer from stress related health issues, a personalized program is designed to address the imbalance of health. One could term it as Therapeutic Hatha Beginner Series or Wellness Program. But at the end of 4 weeks one experiences the difference. Few practitioners are ready to advance to the next level of practice. Self-practice is important to maintain good health.
