Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training (Level 2)


Advance Ashtanga yoga teacher training consists of asana practice, deeper teaching methodologies, Pranayama and meditation, and Bandhas, Kriyas and Mudras. If the level 1 ashtanga yoga teacher-training course focuses on building strength and stamina in your body and mind, the 200+ hours of advance course gives you an insight on maintaining the same strength and stamina. Not only that, it enables you to channel it in the right directions.

During the 4-week long course, you learn to build a good rapport with your students, understand their positives and negatives and work with their mind, body and breath in a way they feel confident and energized about their practice.


Students applying for the advance level teacher-training course in Ashtanga yoga should have completed the level 1 yoga teacher-training course here at IndeaYoga under Yogacharya Bharath Shetty.

In order to experience the best of this course, We ask students to turn off and keep your electronic devices - Phone, laptops, etc in the Safety locker room for the duration of the course. You will be given your devices daily from 2:00 PM till 4:00 PM to reach your family and friend. 

Course Curriculum

The Advance Course has been specially designed to give yoga students the opportunity for personal development and to intensively deepen their own practice.


Asana practice and technique

One will attend two strong asana practices per day. Morning asanas coverAshtanga Vinyasa primary or intermediate series. Afternoon practices will primarily incorporate Indea Innovation series - back bending, hip opening and balancing asanas (including Adhomukha Vrikshasana and Pincha Mayurasana). Teachers are also engaged in understanding the key points in teaching certain asanas to students.



Students must learn the IndeaYoga opening and closing prayer that are chanted before and after every session



A selection of Pranayama techniques will be taught and practiced during the course.



There will regularly be short sessions of meditation (around 15-30 minutes per session).



This session covers a number of conditions and diseases and how to treat these with yoga.


Presentation and yoga therapy

Students are required to prepare a mini presentation/thesis/dossier on a disease/ailment/condition (not necessarily covered in the first two weeks anatomy classes). Students are required to submit this for review and then present to the class their chosen condition and how to treat it with yoga.



Jalandara Bandha, Uddiyana Bandha, Moola Bandha and Maha Bandha.



Jalaneti, Sutra Neti, Kaphalabati, Trataka, Shankprakshalana, and Dhouti. In addition to learning the technique, students will have the opportunity to gain personal experience in performing these kriyas during the course.



Yoni mudra, bhairava mudra, hridaya mudra, shambavi mudra, nasikagra dristi, shanmukhi mudra, etc.



Patanjali Yoga Sutra (Raja Yoga) - Vibhuti Pada (chapter 3), Kaivalya Pada (chapter 4), Karmayoga Sloka Sangrahah (Bhagavad Gita), Atma (Nirvana) Shataka. The following subjects will be covered too Chakras and Ayurveda principles.

Food - Indian Vegetarian

The food provided here is Indian and only vegetarian. The food menu is standardized and students will be provided with 3 meals every day. The food served is mainly healthy and nutritional, keeping in mind the requirements of the students practice. All meals will be served in the Dining Hall only and students will not be allowed to eat in the rooms. Fruits and other snacks will be available in the premises which can be bought by the students. 


Pick up and drop facility from the airport to Yoga Dhaama will be arranged for the students on additional charges. For local travel needs, a Travel Desk facility will be made available, at the reception, to all students.

Cycles will also be available, which can be rented by the students for small weekend rides! If a student still has some energy and time left after his/her practice and study.

Our Teachers

Bharath Shetty

Yogacharya Bharath Shetty is the first yoga teacher in India to be certified as E-RYT 500. He also has YACEP, RCYT and RPYT to his credit from Yoga Alliance. Having more than 2 decades of yoga teaching experience, he has trained more than1000 teachers from over 80+ countries.


Mrs. Vidwan Yogashree who was born in a very traditional family in the heritage city of Mysore. She began her Sanskrit training at a very young age at Sanskrit patashala in an authentic style. She pursued her Masters and Vidwath course in Sanskrit language she has been teaching at different levels now for over eight years. She is also experienced in training foreign students in basic Sanskrit language and advanced Sanskrit language, its pronunciation, chanting etc. Yogashree has also been learning yoga from a very young age and has done her yoga instructor’s course from a reputed yoga university. The immense knowledge that she has gained enables her to teach both Sanskrit and yoga related texts to yoga practitioners. Yogashree being an Indian classical musician has been conducting bhajan and chanting session which will be truly divine and a real treat.

Ms.Meet Sidhu

Ms.Sidhu is a trained Yoga Teacher from Indea Yoga. She is registered as RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance,USA. Meet Sidhu is taking Pranayama Class in our TTC Batches. For more than 5 years of teaching in USA, she has finally moved India to impart the knowledge of Yoga which she has received from her Guru Yogacharya Bharath Shetty. Ms. Sidhu is also one of the lead teacher at Yoga Bharata (sister concern of Indea Yoga), where she takes Mysore Style Classes, LED Classes as well as Ashtanga Vinyasa( Back Bending and Hip Opening).
