Hatha Yoga Teacher Training ( Level 1 )


250+ hours of Hatha yoga teacher training is a comprehensive course that helps you gain a holistic understanding of your personal yoga practice on one level and inspires the yoga teacher in you on the other. The course focuses on Hatha yoga wherein the students are trained to impart the classical version of slow and deliberate yoga poses. We believe that each individual has a unique brand of teaching and it is our aim to help you realize your highest potential. Having trained more than 600 teachers from over 60 countries, Yogacharya Bharath Shetty recognizes and nurtures the best qualities in you

It is an 4-week intensive training course that covers beginner and intermediate yoga poses in IndeaYoga style, meditation, pranayama, anatomy lessons and Patanjali Yoga Sutras. You graduate with Indea Yoga Training (IYT250+) and Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) with Yoga Alliancecertificates. In the end, you are more than just a teacher. You become a yogi in the truest sense.

It requires that the students applying for this course have at least 6 months of hatha yoga practice and Able to perform at least 70% of our foundation series (You may as well practice under IndeaYoga certified teachers available close to your location). If this is not the case, you may enroll yourself for the Hatha Yoga Mysore Style Classes before you start your course in teacher training. Priority will be given to our past students and IndeaYoga practitioners.

Course Curriculum


Asana Practice and Technique

Hatha Teacher training course

During this course one will learn how to practice and teach in detail the IndeaYoga Beginner Series, IndeaYoga Preparatory Series and IndeaYogaFoundation Series. The Beginner series provides the knowledge andskill to work with students who are injured or extremely stiff, and lack flexibility and stability, as well as aging populations and beginners. The Preparatory and Foundation series provide one with a wide range ofAsanas.

Teaching of all three series is thoroughly imparted in the following structure by Bharath Shetty and students are expected to know this detail for each asana by the end of the course and for the exam.

Teaching practice

Applying the above 8-step teaching methodology, students will have taught several sessions by teaching the other TTC students in a classroom setting. Students will also be required to sit-in and observe Bharath and other IndeaYoga teachers who present the Mysore style classes. The aim is for students to gain knowledge of the methodology of teaching that includes the principles of demonstration, instructions and observation.


Prayers (Slokas) and Chanting (Kirtan)

Students are expected to learn the prescribed opening and closing prayers, their meanings, and also familiarize themselves with chanting few other mantras and Kirtans.



A selection of pranayama techniques will be taught and practiced during the course.



Anatomyincludes the study of physical human body anatomy, the skeleton, organs and muscles, cardiovascular system, and nutrition.


Philosophy and Ethics

This part includes the basics from the study of yoga scriptures, ethics for yoga teachers and life of a yogi and includes:

  • Meaning of the word "Yoga"
  • Raja Yoga of Patanjali
  • Panchakoshas
  • Overview of Chakras
  • Overview of PatanjaliYoga Sutras and Ashtanga (eight-fold) Yoga”, with a more detailed Satsang on selected sutras from chapters 1 (SamadhiPada)and 2 (SadhanaPada) of the sutras.



Self-study, study of recommended books, participating in discussion and practice of all the above-mentioned topics is also expected from each student during the four weeks.


Trip through the Golden Triangle

The institute organizes a trip to Belur-Halebidu-ShravanaBelagola, where you can get a glimpse of India’s ancient architecture and cultural heritage. The trip is optional and is exclusive of the course fee.

Yoga Dhama is an exclusive hermitage for IndeaYoga’s teacher training programs. The comprehensive fully residential course is a one-stop solution for all your yoga requirements, making your experience in Mysore fruitful and comfortable. Located just 5 kms away from the city center, the Yoga Dhaama is attached to a beautiful yoga park, which the trainees will be allowed to use during the free hours for meditation, pranayama and walks.

Services covered in one package include,Vegetarian Food and Filtered Mineral Water, Singal and Shared  accommodation facility, Laundry and Housekeeping services,  on-call Doctor, 24-hour Water Supply,  Refrigerator and Round the Clock Security, WiFi, Library and Audio Visual Room, among several others.

Food - Indian Vegetarian

The food provided here is Indian and only vegetarian. The food menu is standardized and students will be provided with 3 meals every day. The food served is mainly healthy and nutritional, keeping in mind the requirements of the students practice. All meals will be served in the Dining Hall only and students will not be allowed to eat in the rooms. Fruits and other snacks will be available in the premises which can be bought by the students. 


Pick up and drop facility from the airport to Yoga Dhaama will be arranged for the students on additional charges. For local travel needs, a Travel Desk facility will be made available, at the reception, to all students.

Cycles will also be available, which can be rented by the students for small weekend rides! If a student still has some energy and time left after his/her practice and study.

Our Teachers

Bharath Shetty

Yogacharya Bharath Shetty is the first yoga teacher in India to be certified as E-RYT 500. He also has YACEP, RCYT and RPYT to his credit from Yoga Alliance. Having more than 2 decades of yoga teaching experience, he has trained more than1000 teachers from over 80+ countries.


Mrs. Vidwan Yogashree who was born in a very traditional family in the heritage city of Mysore. She began her Sanskrit training at a very young age at Sanskrit patashala in an authentic style. She pursued her Masters and Vidwath course in Sanskrit language she has been teaching at different levels now for over eight years. She is also experienced in training foreign students in basic Sanskrit language and advanced Sanskrit language, its pronunciation, chanting etc. Yogashree has also been learning yoga from a very young age and has done her yoga instructor’s course from a reputed yoga university. The immense knowledge that she has gained enables her to teach both Sanskrit and yoga related texts to yoga practitioners. Yogashree being an Indian classical musician has been conducting bhajan and chanting session which will be truly divine and a real treat.

Ms.Meet Sidhu

Ms.Sidhu is a trained Yoga Teacher from Indea Yoga. She is registered as RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance,USA. Meet Sidhu is taking Pranayama Class in our TTC Batches. For more than 5 years of teaching in USA, she has finally moved India to impart the knowledge of Yoga which she has received from her Guru Yogacharya Bharath Shetty. Ms. Sidhu is also one of the lead teacher at Yoga Bharata (sister concern of Indea Yoga), where she takes Mysore Style Classes, LED Classes as well as Ashtanga Vinyasa( Back Bending and Hip Opening).

Ankur Bhati

Ankur is an experienced 500 HRS trained teacher from IndeaYoga and registered to Yoga Alliance, USA. He has been practicing Yoga since Seven years with varied teachers in India. Ankur’s passion for teaching Yoga had brought him to Yogacharya Bharath Shetty, under his Guru’s guidance he completed his teacher’s training. He is assisting him in Teacher’s Training and Mysore Style batches. Before coming to Mysore Ankur was taking regular Yoga classes in Rajasthan and special programs for corporates. An avid photographer and traveler Ankur likes to capture wildlife and travel during his free time.
